Requirements for Being a USI Logistics Carrier

At USI Logistics, we believe in working with the best. When reviewing your carrier application, we’ll evaluate based on multiple key performance indicators and compliance factors, including but not limited to the following:

  • How long you’ve been registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Carriers should have registered with the FMCSA no less than three months ago.
  • Your FMCSA safety rating. Ideally our carriers will have a satisfactory rating. If your business has a conditional rating but you meet all other qualifications, one of our team members will get in touch to discuss the circumstances of the rating. (Applications from service providers with an unsatisfactory rating cannot be accepted.)
  • Safety Measurement System (SMS) Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Categories (BASICs) scoring. Overseen by the FMCSA, your BASIC score will cover such factors as driver fitness, unsafe driving, controlled substance use, vehicle maintenance, and hours of service compliance.
  • On time, in full (OTIF) delivery rates. We’re looking to work with transportation service providers that can ensure timely, complete deliveries for our customers.

You will also need a current DOT or MC number, as well as proof of liability insurance. We require a minimum of $1 million in auto liability and $100,000 in cargo coverage.
